Tulsa, Okla., passed
away March 6, 2012. Anne had a lifelong love
of ballet and worked with the Tulsa Ballet Theater
for many years. She loved children and taught
Sunday school at First Presbyterian Church and
spent many years working with families at
Kathleen’s Kids and Children’s Collection.
Anne is the mother of
Lonnie (Rulon) Murray
died Aug. 19, 2012. Lonnie was a homemaker
and a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Gail (Anderson) Tice
Palatine, Ill., died
June 28, 2012. Gail was employed by the District
School Board and Harris Bank, Palatine.
She particularly liked teaching piano in her
home for many years. Gail loved traveling,
sewing, gardening and telling others about
Nancy (Gustafson) Patterson
passed away Aug. 6, 2012. Nancy was employed
as a stewardess for United Airlines and as a
Realtor in both California and Illinois. She was
a member of many groups and organizations in
which she held significant leadership roles,
including P.E.O. Chapter IY, Garden Club,
Amity Society, and the Freeport
Martha (Mares) Lebo
San Antonio, Texas,
died June 25, 2012. Martha had a long and
rewarding career in education. After retiring
from her position as an elementary school
librarian, she became involved in numerous
activities: The Cody Library Book Club, Holly
Garden Club, and Chapter DW of P.E.O. Martha
enjoyed travel and took many trips to Europe,
Costa Rica, Mexico, the Caribbean, and around
the United States. Martha was dedicated to
William Woods, having hosted alumni gatherings,
serving on the WWU Alumni Board and on the
William Woods Board of Trustees for many years.
For her support to the university, Martha was
honored with the Service Award from the WWU
Alumni Association in 2005.
Marcia (Brosh) Lewis
League City, Texas,
passed away March 20, 2012. Marcia had a
career in nursing. She enjoyed crafts, sewing,
scrapbooking, collecting dolls, and was an
in Kansas City; a regent in the Niangua Chapter of
the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR)
in Camdenton, Mo., and later a member of the
Black Mountain Foothills Chapter of the DAR
in Scottsdale, Ariz. A lifelong artist, she focused
on making and donating quilts in her later years.
Julia is the mother of
Suzanne (Groves) Porter
Plano, Ill., died
April 16, 2012. Suzanne was a member of the
Plano School Board for four years. She enjoyed
painting and loved animals of all kinds.
Wanda (Koertel) Hilgeman
passed away July 6, 2012. While at William
Woods, Wanda’s student activities included
YWCA, Campus Players, and St. Louis Club.
Anne (Marty) Aikin
Overland Park, Kan.,
passed away May 20, 2012. Anne was a member
of the Tomahawk Chapter of the Daughters of the
American Revolution (DAR), the Kansas City
Young Matrons, the Friends of Art of the Nelson-
Atkins Museum of Art, and the Kansas City Music
Teachers Association. She was a past president of
the Kansas City Symphony League and a member
of the Kansas City Symphony Auxiliary Council.
She taught voice and piano privately for more
than 30 years.
Dorothy (Dilworth) Frentress
Ark., died March 9, 2012.
Carole “Kay” (Kirkman) Hartman
Longmont, Colo., died Feb. 23, 2012. Kay was a
homemaker until her children were grown. After
that she worked as an in-home care provider doing
geriatric daycare. She was a member of New
Creation Church where she sang in the choir. She
belonged to Bible Study Fellowship, the Eastern
Star, and Women’s Aglow. Kay also enjoyed
camping with her husband and family.
Judith (Wolf) Canaday
passed away May 28, 2011. Judith had worked
for the City of Wheat Ridge, Colo.

away Dec. 21, 2010. Patricia was predeceased by
her husband and best friend of 50 years, whom
she had met on a blind date, Paul Raidt (WC ’50).
