Advancement Team: Growing in Service
The University Advancement offce has recently expanded. Our
team is divided into two parts: Marketing & University Relations
department, which coordinates all functions related to marketing
and public relations, and University Advancement, which includes
development and alumni relations functions.
While Dr. Barnett and I are on the road visiting alumni, friends, and
board members of the university, our team is working diligently to
ensure that you receive excellent service.
Scott Miniea serves as associate VP of university advancement,
overseeing the development and alumni relations functions.
Working with him are development offcers, Tom Bander, who is
responsible for planned giving, and Amy LaRue Dittmer, who is
responsible for the President’s Club Giving Society.
Sharon Mather
serves as the
annual fund
coordinator. Her
area includes
management of
the phonathon
fundraising
operation and
the Parents’
Association.
Brenda Foster serves as our community development director,
coordinating the WWU portion of the Fulton Colleges Fund and
Board of Associates, as well as the President’s Concert and
Lecture Series and President’s Community Council events.
Peggy McGrew, director of advancement information and donor
relations, ensures that university gifts are processed appropriately
and alumni information is up-to-date. She is ably assisted by
Janice Tate and Elaine Winters.
Becky Stinson, director of alumni activities, works with the Alumni
Board, responds to alumni requests and ensures that opportunities
exist for Woods alumni to stay connected to campus and one
another. In addition, Becky works with the Student Alumni Council
to host activities for current students and alumni.
Gabrielle Harrison joined the UA team in 2008 in a new position as
administrative assistant to the department.
With this great team, we are now able to serve you better and
to advance the university on multiple levels. With this increased
focus on people-centeredness, we have also upgraded the
alumni pages of TheWoods.edu/Alumni.
We have expanded both the Alumni and Friends section and the
Giving to the Woods section, providing more opportunities for you
to learn about current activities at The Woods, to connect with
your fellow alumni, and to make it as easy as possible for you to
support the University’s mission.

This is also a great place to check for local alumni events, read

As a free service to our alumni, William Woods also offers a free,
web-based career and resume development tool. Creating a
resume with OptimalResume is easily accomplished with step-
by-step instructions, intuitive examples and career exploration
tools. This free service is available to all WWU students and
alumni, but you must have the WWU password to log in. For more
