and a friend performed a piano duet at King City
Presbyterian Church in October.

business and innovation nominee for the 2008
inaugural First Lady Awards of Missouri. The

ceremony in March.

and husband, John, were recognized as a “Power
Couple” by the Columbia Business Times. She
is the fnancial offcer for DeSpain Dermatology
Center, and serving her third term as a member of
the Columbia Board of Education. She was board
president for two years. Karla has two children,
Caitlin, 16, and Ryanne, 14.
