Job Type: This is a full time, exempt position.

General Description:

The Web Developer is responsible for planning, coordination, and scheduling of activities related to the design, development, testing, and implementation of organizational information systems and software applications related to William Woods University’s online presence. Working with the software development team, the Web Developer is also responsible for supporting and upgrading existing systems and applications, as required. This position requires excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as an overall knowledge of content management, software development, and web-based design.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee content management system (CMS)
  • Maintain cascading style sheets (CSS)
  • Work with senior WWU staff to update and enhance the WWU website as directed
  • Proactively work with WWU departments to assist in the creation of new site content and guide them in the maintenance of their current content
  • Responsible for website quality control through adherence to a web standards guide
  • Review website department information and proactively seek out methods to enhance awareness of programs and events
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

EDUCATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management, Information Systems, or a combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Ability to work independently and with a small team of developers
  • Knowledge of CMS and CSS
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with simultaneous and/or competing deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1-2 years of experience with HTML development
  • 1-2 years of experience using Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 or 6, Photoshop, and Flash
  • 1-2 years of experience hand-coding HTML and CSS-based web sites
  • 1-2 years of experience in an academic environment

Work Schedule:

This is a 40-hour per week, 12-month position with occasional evening or weekend work as needed.
