Degree Program Detail
Associate of Arts
The Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies is a 65-semester hour, 21 course program of general education. Program completion qualifies a student for admission into a degree completion program of the University and meets the institution's Common Studies (general education) requirements. Like all Graduate and Adult Studies programs the Associate of Arts (A.A.) program is delivered in the cohort format. This format enables students to move through the program together; that is, students normally progress course by course as a cohesive group.
Students may participate in placement testing for the English Composition and Mathematics classes. English Composition placement testing occurs before the start of the A.A. cohort. Mathematics placement testing occurs during the A.A. cohort, before the math sequence. Depending upon their initial placement, students will take Introduction to College Writing (ENG 100) or Introduction to the Bible (PHL 101); Introduction to Mathematics (MAT 101) or World Religions (PHL 102); and Basic Algebra (MAT 102)or The Family (SCA 207).
Students who choose not to participate in the English placement testing will be enrolled in ENG 100, ENG 101 and ENG 102. Students who choose not to participate in the mathematics placement testing will be enrolled in MAT 101, MAT 102, and MAT 112.
