Academic Policy Details
To be eligible for the program, incoming freshmen need to have a high ACT score (we are looking for something above a 25) and a high cumulative GPA (something around 3.5/4.0). Students will provide an essay that demonstrates their writing ability. Student who believe their academic ability and leadership qualities are not accurately reflected by their ACT and GPA scores may apply and discuss these issues with the director. Current students and transfer students may apply a anytime and will need to speak to the honors director about meeting requirements.
Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher to remain in the program. If a student’s GPA falls below 3.4, the student is given one semester of probation to bring the GPA to 3.4 or higher.
To build community among the participants and make connections with the faculty, students complete the program as a cohort, taking the required courses together and in sequence. Students complete the required 20 hours of course work and during their final semester, students complete a thesis or similar project and present it to the campus community.
These policies apply to the Semester Program/On Campus students only. Graduate College Students will need to consult the Graduate College Regulations.
