MISSION STATEMENTS FOR PROGRAMS AND CONCENTRATIONS WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT OF LEGAL STUDIES

“LEGAL STUDIES” MAJOR:

Paralegal Studies Concentration

To provide students with a core of legal knowledge and critical thinking, understanding of professional ethics, communication and interpersonal skills, which will enhance the students’ ability to function effectively as professionals in a legal environment.

Juvenile Justice Concentration

To provide students with a core of knowledge in law, policy, human development and societal responses to the status of juveniles within the legal system so as to enhance the students’ ability to function effectively and ethically as professionals in the juvenile justice system.

Criminal Justice Concentration

To provide students with a core of knowledge in criminal justice practices, concepts, ethics, and issues so as to prepare students to work effectively and ethically as professionals in the fields of criminal justice, security or related fields.

Criminal Justice - Homeland Security Concentration

To provide students with a core of knowledge in criminal justice practices, concepts, ethics, and issues so as to prepare students to work effectively and ethically as professionals in the fields of criminal justice,homeland security or related fields.
