The Career Services Center is designed to meet the needs of students and alumni at various stages of their career development. The center is structured to answer three primary questions related to career development:
- Who Am I?
- Where Am I Going?
- How Do I Get There?
The center offers a variety of assessment tools as well as personal career counseling in an effort to answer the question "Who Am I?". During this time, students are encouraged to begin identifying interests and values. Assistance in identifying potential majors of interest is also provided.
In addressing the question "Where Am I Going?," the center provides resources and assistance in career and labor market research. Students learn more about careers that interest them through research as well as internship and mentoring opportunities.
Finally, one comes to the question, "How Do I Get There?". Too often, people rush to this question and consider it the sole purpose of a career center. While only one piece of the career development process, strategy-based references are a crucial component. The Career Center provides resources and assistance in the development of job search strategies such as resume and cover letter development, interview skills and etiquette. The center also provides job postings and information about graduate schools.
