Kristi Palmer Competes at Outdoor Nationals
(EDWARDSVILLE, Ill., May 21) - Sophomore Kristi Palmer (Saint Genevieve, Mo.) was the lone member of the William Woods University women's outdoor track team to compete at the 2009 NAIA Outdoor National Championships at Ralph Korte Stadium on the campus of Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville in Edwardsville, Ill.
Palmer ran in the 1500 Meter Run trials Thursday afternoon. She finished 6th out of 12 runners in her heat. Palmer finished with a time of 4:39.74. Her time broke the William Woods University school record, which she set at the University of Central Missouri Relays on April 17th, 2009 (4:43.93). Palmer missed the cut and will not compete in the finals of the 1500 Meter Run. Only twelve runners qualify for the finals. Palmer finished 13th in the event. Bekah Regenfuss (Olivet Nazarene University) secured the final spot in the 1500 with a time of 4:38.37.
This was Palmer's fifth National Championship event. Palmer qualified for the 2007 and 2008 NAIA Cross Country National Championships, and the 2008 and 2009 NAIA Indoor National Championships in the 3000 meter run.
