The Owls had to beat its opponents and the conditions to secure their second victory of the season. With temperatures in the low 90's, and the humidity at it's breaking point, the Owls took a 4-1 lead with 15 minutes remaining in the first half before the game was halted due to lightning in the area.

William Woods jumped on top quickly as Hayley Christensen (Osage Beach, Mo.) scored three minutes into the match. Kelsey Evans (Troy, Ill.) increased the WWU lead to 2-0 in the 18th minute. CSC answered with a goal in the 25th minute to cut the lead to one. That was as close as the Lady Wildcats would get. WWU answered with goals from Caty Newbold (Jefferson City, Mo.) and Alisha Morice (Osage Beach, Mo.) to finish out the first half.

Leading 4-1 after a 30-minute lightning delay, the Owls came out in the second half and continued to attack the CSC defense. The Owls received second half goals from Christiensen, Lilli Coleman (Tulsa, Okla.), and two goals from Melissa Roewe. The Owls received three assists from Kelsey Sanders (Jefferson City, Mo.). Lyndsey Bittle (Smithton, Ill.), Bailey Jungmann (Shiloh, Ill.), Stacie Bonte (Fenton, Mo.) and Roewe also recorded assists in the win.

The CSC goalie barely had time to catch her breath. William Woods outshot Culver-Stockton College 29-6. Colleen Dailey recorded one save in goal for the victorious Owls.

William Woods will return to action on Saturday, September 6th. The Owls will host visiting Lindenwood University at 1:00 pm, at Firley Field.
