(FULTON, Mo, Oct. 26) - The William Woods University women's soccer team dropped an American Midwest Conference match on Monday night at Firley Field. The Owls lost to #9 McKendree University 6-1.

 

McKendree opened the scoring in the 38th minute. The Bearcats received a goal from Kyla Nighohossian. Nighohossian scored on an assist from Carlee Luehmann. It was the only goal scored in the opening 45 minutes of play.

 

McKendree found the back of the net five times in the second half. The Bearcats received goals from Erin Killian (3), Tanisha Reed and Nighohossian.

 

William Woods scored its goal in the 89th minute of play. Senior Lili Coleman (Tulsa, Okla.) scored on a deflection in front of the net. It was the first goal of the season for the senior.

 

McKendree outshot William Woods 15-14. The Bearcats put 12 shots on goal in the win. The Owls put seven shots on goal in the loss. Freshman Anna Hatfield (Desoto, Ill.) recorded six saves for the Owls in a losing effort.

 

McKendree improves to 14-1-2 on the year, and 9-0 in the AMC. William Woods falls to 2-12 on the season, 1-6 in league play. The Owls will return to action on October 28th. WWU will travel to #19 Park University. Kick-off is scheduled for 6 pm.
