William Woods University Women's SoccerOwls Fall to #11 Benedictine

(FULTON, Mo., Sept. 12) - The William Woods University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Benedictine College at Firley Field on Saturday night. Benedictine entered the match as the 11th ranked team in the country.

 

Benedictine received a goal from Ellen Parker (O'Fallon, Mo.) in the 9th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Ravens would not find the back of the net the rest of the night.

 

William Woods played strong on the defensive end throughout the evening against a good Benedictine squad. Entering the night, BC had outscored its opponents 20-1 in its five previous matches.

 

Benedictine outshot the Owls 14-0 on the night. BC recorded three shots in the first half, and 11 in the second. William Woods freshman goalie Anna Hatfield (Desoto, Ill.) played well in the loss. Hatfield tallied five saves for William Woods.

 

Benedictine improves to 6-0 with the victory. William Woods falls to 1-3 on the season with the loss. The Owls will return to action on Wednesday, September 16th. WWU will open American Midwest Conference play against Hannibal-LaGrange College. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 pm at Firley Field.
