Two Owls Reach Honorable Mention All-American Status (Nov. 30)
(FULTON, Mo., Nov. 30)--The William Woods University women’s soccer team placed two student-athletes on the NAIA Honorable Mention All-American Women’s Soccer team.
Ashley Morgan, the 2007 American Midwest Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Year, was selected to the Honorable Mention All-American squad. Morgan, a junior forward from Valparaiso, Indiana, appeared in 16 games this year for the Owls. She scored 16 goals, recorded 9 assists, and collected 41 points.
Colleen Dailey, a 2007 AMC First Team goalkeeper, was also selected to the Honorable Mention All-American squad. Dailey, a junior goalkeeper from Ellisville, Missouri, started 14 of 16 games in goal for the Owls. She recorded 106 saves while allowing 26 goals. Dailey also recorded six shutouts on the year.
Owls Place Two on All-Region Team (Nov. 26)

Owls Season Come To An End (Oct. 31)
(FULTON, Mo., Oct. 31)--The William Woods University women’s soccer team lost in the final round of the NAIA Region V Play-In Tournament to visiting Hannibal-LaGrange College. The Trojans topped the Owls 2-1.
William Woods jumped on the board on a goal from Ashley Morgan with 29 minutes remaining in the first half. Leslie Gordon tied the game nine minutes later off a break-away for Hannibal-LaGrange. The two teams went into the half tied at one.
Alysa Askew scored the winning goal with 14 minutes remaining in regulation for the Trojans. Her goal came on a corner tried that found its way into the top right corner of the net.
The Owls outshot the Trojans 17-9. Colleen Dailey recorded 5 saves for the Owls. Brittany Johnson recorded 13 saves for the Trojans.
Hannibal-LaGrange (8-9-1) advances to the NAIA Region V Tournament on Friday at William Jewell University. William Woods finishes their 2007 season with a record of 8-8.
Owls Pass First Post-Season Test (Oct. 29)
(FULTON, Mo., Oct. 29)--The William Woods University women’s soccer team defeated visiting Harris-Stowe State University on Monday afternoon at Firley Field. The Owls defeated the Hornets 9-1 and advance in the second round of the NAIA Region V play-in tournament. William Woods will host the winner of the Hannibal-LaGrange/Missouri Baptist University match at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 31st.
The Owls scored early and often Monday afternoon. William Woods scored four goals in the first half, and five goals in the second half.
Senior Katie Finley collected three goals in the victory for the Owls. All three of those goals came in the second half. Junior Ashley Morgan scored two first-half goals in the win.
The Owls (8-7) outshot the Hornets (2-15) 18-2. Colleen Dailey recorded one save for the Owls in the win.
Owls Win Final Regular Season Match (Oct. 21)
(FULTON, Mo., Oct. 21)--The William Woods University women’s soccer team rallied for two late goals in a 3-2 victory over Avila University on Saturday afternoon in Fulton, Missouri.
Neither team could find the back of the net in the first half of play. However, both teams scored a flurry of goals to begin the second half. Hillary Kerschbaum put Avila on the board seven minutes into the second half. Kelsey Evans tied the game three minutes later for William Woods. Not to be outdone, Kerschbaum put Avila ahead again two minutes later.
Hayley Christensen scored on a header with fourteen minutes remaining to tie the game at two. She scored on an assist from Ashley Morgan. The Owls continued to force the issue, and with four minutes remaining in the game, Evans connected with the game-winning goal.
Both teams attempted 13 shots, 10 of which were on-goal. Maddie Covalt recorded seven saves for Avila. Colleen Dailey recorded eight saves for William Woods.
The Owls end the regular season with a record of 7-7. They will now wait to see who they play, and when they play in the NAIA post-season.
Woods Falls in AMC Finale (Oct. 20)
(FULTON, Mo., Oct. 20)--The William Woods University women’s soccer team lost 3-1 to the McKendree University Bearcats on Saturday afternoon. The two teams came into the contest tied for first place in the American Midwest Conference. With the loss, William Woods finishes the AMC schedule in second place with a 3-1 record. McKendree wins the AMC Championship with a perfect 4-0 finish.
The two teams were tied at one going into halftime. McKendree received a goal from Sarah Ryan five minutes in the first half. Ashley Morgan tied the game with a goal of her own with twelve minutes remaining.
Ryan scored the game winning goal thirteen minutes into the second half. Ilana Milkez added another goal for the Bearcats nine minutes later to put the match out of reach. The Bearcats outshot the Owls 17-5. Liz Yanko recorded two saves for McKendree. Colleen Dailey recorded five save for William Woods.
McKendree improves to 10-2-2 overall. William Woods falls to 6-7 on the season. They will finish their regular season on Sunday, October 21st, at home versus Avila University.
Owls Top Trojans (Oct. 17)
(FULTON, Mo., Oct. 17)--The William Woods University women’s soccer team picked up an important American Midwest Conference victory Wednesday afternoon. The Owls defeated visiting Hannibal-LaGrange College 3-0 to move to 3-0 in the AMC. The win puts them in a tie with McKendree University. The two schools will finish the regular season against each other on Saturday, October 20th, at 12:00 Noon, in Fulton.
Ashley Morgan scored two first half goals in the win for William Woods. Hayley Christensen added a goal in the victory. William Woods is now 6-6 overall.
The Owls outshot the Trojans 8-7. Colleen Dailey recorded nine saves in the win for the Owls.
Woods Drops Third Straight (Oct. 12)
(ST. LOUIS, Mo., Oct. 12)--The William Woods University women’s soccer team dropped their third straight decision Friday at Lindenwood University. The Owls lost 3-1 to the Lindenwood Lions.
The Lions took a 1-0 lead into halftime on a goal by Ashley Tankersley. Liz Runnels tied the game early in the second half. She scored on an assist from Ashley Morgan. The Lions scored 15 minutes later and added another goal 10 minutes later to secure the victory.
Lindenwood outsthot William Woods 15-12. Colleen Dailey recorded four saves in the loss.
William Woods (5-6) will return to action Wednesday, October 17th, versus AMC for Hannibal-LaGrange College.
Owls Lose at William Jewell (Oct. 9)
(MARSHALL, Mo., Oct. 9)--The William Woods University women’s soccer team dropped a 7-0 decision at William Jewell College on Tuesday evening in Marshall, Missouri.
The Cardinals scored four goals in the first half and three in the second half en route to the victory.
The Owls were outshot 33-4 in the loss. They will return to action on Friday, October 12th, at Lindenwood University.
Ashley Morgan Named WWU Student-Athlete of the Month for September (Oct. 5)
(FULTON, Mo., Oct. 5) - William Woods University Women's Soccer team player Ashley Morgan has been named as WWU Student-Athlete of the Month for September.
Morgan a 5-5 junior forward from Valparaiso, Indiana has tallied an amazing 25 points for the month with 10 goals and 5 assists in leading the Owls to a 5-2 overall and 2-0 record for the month.
She has been named as the AMC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week three different times in September.
Morgan's month-long scoring outburst included 4 goals and an assist in a 8-0 thumping of Culver-Stockton College. She added 3 goals and an assist in leading the Owls to a 5-0 shutout of conference foe Harris-Stowe.
Morgan is majoring in Social Work.
Owls Fall at Lyon (Oct. 3)
(BATESVILLE, Ark., Oct. 3)--The William Woods University women’s soccer team fell to 5-4 on the season with a 1-0 loss at Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas.
Lyon took a 1-0 lead into halftime on a goal by Sarah Ruegger. William Woods was held to only three shots in the game by the stingy Piper defense.
Coleen Dailey recorded five saves for the Owls in the loss.
William Woods will return to action on Tuesday, October 9th, at NAIA Region V opponent William Jewel College.
Women`s Soccer Sweeps AMC Awards (Oct. 2)

(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 2)--Ashley Morgan and Colleen Dailey from William Woods University have been named the American Midwest Conference Women's Soccer Players of the Week for Oct. 1.
Morgan, a junior forward from Valparaiso, Ind., is the AMC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Morgan recorded a hat trick and added an assist in a 5-0 William Woods victory at Harris-Stowe State University. Through eight games in 2007, Morgan has recorded 10 goals with five assists for 25 points.
This is the third time in 2007 that Morgan has been honored as the AMC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Dailey, a junior goalkeeper from Ellisville, Mo., is this week's choice for AMC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Dailey recorded eight saves in the Owls' 5-0 win at Harris-Stowe. The win marked Dailey's fifth shutout of the season. She has not allowed a goal in two AMC games this season.
Woods Moves to 2-0 in AMC Play (Sept. 27)
ST. LOUIS, Mo., Sept. 26 – The William Woods University women’s soccer team had little trouble with AMC foe Harris-Stowe State University. The Owls defeated the Hornets 5-0 in St. Louis, Missouri.
Junior Ashley Morgan (Valparaiso, Indiana) collected three goals in the win. Senior Casey Westhues (Moberly, Missouri) and sophomore Kristen Phinney (Washington, Missouri) each added a goal for the Owls.
William Woods improves to 5-3 on the season, and 2-0 in the AMC. They will return to action on Wednesday, October 3rd at Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas.
Leathernecks Too Much For Woods (Sept. 23)
MACOMB, Ill. Sept. 23 – The William Woods University women’s soccer team dropped a 5-1 decision at the hands of NCAA Division I Western Illinois University on Sunday.
The WIU Leathernecks scored two goals in the first half, and tallied three more in the second to give the Owls their second straight loss.
Ashley Morgan scored the lone goal for William Woods.
William Woods (4-3) returns to action on September 26th at Harris-Stowe State University.
William Woods Falls at Central Methodist (Sept. 21)
FAYETTE, Mo. Sept. 21 – The William Woods University women’s soccer team had their four-game winning streak snapped at the hands of Central Methodist University on Friday afternoon.
The Lady Eagles jumped on the board early, and in the process snapped the Owl’s four-game shutout streak. Hayley Christiansen tied the game with 17 minutes left in the first half. The Owls spent the majority of the first half on the defensive end of the field and went into halftime tied with the Lady Eagles at 1-1.
Central Methodist scored the game winning goal with 11 minutes left in the game. Mo Walsh found the back of the net for the Lady Eagles and they would hold on to win the match and improve to 4-2 on the year.
CMU outshot the Owls 10-4. Ashley Morgan recorded one assist in the loss.
The loss takes William Woods to 4-2 on the season. They will return to action on Sunday, September 23rd, at NCAA Division I Western Illinois University.
Soccer Starts 1-0 in AMC (Sept. 19)
ST. LOUIS, Mo., Sept 18 – The William Woods University women’s soccer team opened American Midwest Conference play with a 1-0 victory at Missouri Baptist University. Danielle Peters scored the lone goal in the win.
This was the fourth consecutive shutout for the Owls who move to 4-1 overall, and 1-0 in the AMC. William Woods took a 1-0 lead into the half and held on behind quality defense and goalie play from Colleen Dailey.
The Owls will return to action on Friday, September 21st, at Central Methodist University.
Ashley Morgan Honored By AMC (Sept 18.)
(LEBANON, Ill., Sept. 17) - Ashley Morgan of William Woods University has been named the American Midwest Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 17. The honor was announced Monday by the league office.
Morgan, a 5-5 junior forward from Valparaiso, Ind., continues to post big numbers for the Owls in 2007. She nettted a pair of goals and added two assists in a 6-0 William Woods victory against Friends University. For the season, Morgan has tallied six goals along with three assists.
For Morgan, this marks the second consecutive week she has earned AMC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Big Second Half Lifts Owls (Sept. 14)
FULTON, Mo. (Sept. 14) – The William Woods University women’s soccer team improved to 3-1 with a 6-0 victory over visiting Friends University (Kansas) on Friday afternoon at Firley Field. The Owls scored five second half goals to put the Falcons away and drop them to 1-3-2 on the season.
Freshman Ashli Gray (Blue Springs, Missouri) and junior Ashley Morgan (Valparaiso, Indiana) each scored two goals in the win. Senior Danielle Peters (Union, Missouri) and senior Katie Finley (St. Charles, Missouri) added a goal apiece in the win. The Owls outshot the Falcons 20-3.
The Owls will return to action on September 18th at American Midwest Conference rival Missouri Baptist University.
Morgan Honored by AMC (Sept. 13)
FULTON, Mo. (Sept. 13) – Ashley Morgan has been selected the American Midwest Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Morgan, a 5-5 junior forward from Valparaiso, Ind., was selected as the AMC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. She tallied four goals and an assist in the Owls' 8-0 home victory against Culver-Stockton College. The win was the first of the season for William Woods, which moved to 1-1 on the year.
Morgan Scores Four Goals in Win (Sept. 8)
FULTON, Mo. (Sept. 8th) – The William Woods University women’s soccer team got four goals from Junior Ashley Morgan (Valparaiso, Indiana) en route to a 8-0 victory over visiting Culver-Stockton College.
Morgan scored four goals on six shots for the Owls. She also recorded one assist. The Owls also received goals from senior Danielle Peters (Union, Missouri), freshman Kelsey Evans (Troy, Illinois), sophomore Kristen Phinney (Washington, Missouri) and sophomore Nikki Westhues (Moberly, Missouri).
The Owls outshot the Wildcats 14-8. CSC drops to 1-3. WWU improves to 1-1. William Woods will return to action on September 10th at Missouri Valley College.
Owls Fall to #15 Graceland (Sept. 2)
LAMONI, Iowa (Sept. 2) – The William Woods University women’s soccer team opened the 2007 season with a 0-2 loss at the hands of #15 Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.
Graceland held a 1-0 lead after the first half of play. They would add another goal late to take the 2-0 victory.
Graceland outshot William Woods 7-4. Colleen Dailey recorded six saves for the Owls.
WWU returns to action on Saturday, August 8th at 1:00 pm versus Culver-Stockton College.
