Kristen PhinneySeason Ends in AMC Quarterfinals

(HANNIBAL, Mo, Nov. 6) - The William Woods University women's soccer team lost in the quarterfinals of the American Midwest Conference postseason tournament on Friday afternoon. The Owls lost 2-0 at Hannibal-LaGrange College.

 

The Trojans took a 1-0 lead into the half. Leslie Gordan scored on an assist from Fernanda Miacci to give Hannibal-LaGrange the lead.

 

H-LG added a second goal in the 56th minute to secure the win.

 

Hannibal-LaGrange (7-8-1) had 18 shots in the match. The Trojans put six shots on goal. William Woods had eight shots on the afternoon. The Owls put four shots on goal in the loss. Freshman Anna Hatfield (Desoto, Ill.) recorded four saves for William Woods.

 

The Owls finish the season 4-14 overall. Sophomore Anne Weaver led the Owls in goals. Weaver scored seven goals for the Owls. Senior Kelsey Evans added five goals for WWU. Sophomore Caty Newbold led the squad with four assists. Hatfield started all 18 matches in goal for William Woods. She recorded two shutouts and 98 saves.
