(MADISON, Ill., Oct. 6) -
The William Woods University women's golf team finished in a tie for second place at the Triton Invitational Tournament on Tuesday. The Owls finished three shots behind tournament champion, and NCAA Division II school, the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

 

The Owls tied NCAA Division II Southern Indiana University at +64 for the two-day tournament. USI and WWU shot 632 for the event. The field consisted of 20 teams. Three of the top four finishing schools were NCAA Division II institutions.

 

Sophomore Jada Bennington (Beloit, Wisc.) led the Owls, and tied for fourth individually. The field consisted of 121 golfers. Bennington was +11 for the tournament. Shweta Galande (UMSL) won the event with a 149 (+7).

 

Senior Amanda Purcell (Droitwich, England) recorded a top-ten finish for the Owls. Purcell finished in a tie for 9th with a +13.

The Owls return to action on October 11-13th. WWU will host the William Woods Fall Fling at the Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton, Mo.
