Owls Finish Second at Invitational
(FULTON, Mo., Oct. 14) - The William Woods University women's golf team finished second at the WWU Fall Invitational Tuesday. The Owls finished 16 shots behind the University of Missouri "B" team at the Tanglewood Golf Course.
The Owls finished 14 shots ahead of third place Maryville University. WWU shot rounds of 312 and 305 to finish +41 for the two-day event. The Fall Invitational field consisted of five teams.
Sophomore Jada Bennington (Beloit, Wisc.) led the Owls. Bennington finished second individually. She broke the WWU school record for low 18-hole score with a final round one-under par 71. Bennington broke the record of 72, previously held by Ceanne Kressig and Amanda Purcell. Bennington finished two shots behind tournament champion Jacque Bardgett (University of Missouri.)
Freshman Naomi Starr (Columbia, Mo.) finished fifth individually for the Owls. Starr shot rounds of 74 and 77 to finish +7 for the tournament.
Bennington and Starr were named to the All-Tournament Team.
