Owls Finish Strong at Tournament

(NORMAL, Ill., Sept. 20) -
The William Woods University women's golf team took 20 strokes off its opening round performance at the Illinois Wesleyan College Invitational on Sunday. The Owls moved up five spots and finished 3rd in the event.

 

William Woods shot an opening round 338 on Saturday. The Owls followed that with a 318 on Sunday. WWU finished six shots behind second place University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and 12 shots behind tournament champion Washington University (St. Louis).

 

Sophomore Jada Bennington (Beloit, Wisc.) finished 8th individually for William Woods. Bennington shot rounds of 83 and 77. She finished the tournament +16. Jessica Urban (UWE-C) won the tournament. She shot a +2, 146.

 

Sophomore Elizabeth Welker (Lake St. Louis, Mo.) and sophomore Ashlee Daly (Rocheport, Mo.) competed individually at the tournament. Welker shot rounds of 83 and 81 (+20). She finished 16th. Bennington and Welker were named to the All-Tournament team.
