Owls Third at Graceland

(LAMONI, Iowa., Oct. 24) - The William Woods University women's cross country team finished third out of 11 schools at the Yellow Jacket Classic at Graceland University on Saturday. American Midwest Conference rival Park University won the event.

Junior Kristi Palmer (Ste. Genevieve, Mo.) was the top runner for the Owls. Palmer finished 5th in a field of 109 runners. She finished the 5k event with a time of 19:14. Obsie Birru (Grand View College) won the event with a time of 17:53.

Freshman Amy Gangloff (Wellsville, Mo.) finished 7th for William Woods. Gangloff completed the course in 19:32. Sophomore Cheryl Held finished 8th for the Owls. Held finished with a time of 19:41.

Sophomore Latrice Fletcher (Independence, Mo.) - 39th with a time of 21:08.

Sophomore Jordan Locke (Hannibal, Mo.) - 49th with a time of 21:29.

Freshman Stephanie Candrl (High Ridge, Mo.) - 68th with a time of 22:20.

The Owls will return to action on Nov. 7. WWU will compete in the American Midwest Conference Championships in St. Louis, Mo. The Owls have won the last three AMC Championships and four of the last five.
