Owls 24th at Mo. Southern

(JOPLIN, Mo., Sept. 19) - The William Woods University women's cross country team competed in the Missouri Southern University Stampede on Saturday. The Owls finished 24th in a field of 41 teams. The University of Arkansas-Fayetteville won the event.

 

Junior Kristi Palmer (Ste. Genevieve, Mo.) was the top runner for the Owls. Palmer finished 36th in a massive field that consisted of 359 runners. She finished the 5k race with a time of 18:48.61. Her time is now the eighth fastest 5k in school history. Palmer now holds four of the top ten fastest times.

 

Teammate Amy Gangloff (Wellsville, Mo.) finished 93rd in the event. Gangloff, a freshman, completed the race with a time of 19:48.40. Miranda Walker (University of Arkansas-Fayetteville) won the race with a time of 17:23.64.

 

Other William Woods runners included:

Sophomore Jordan Locke (Hannibal, Mo.) - 167th with a time of 20:44.66.

Freshman Jessie Wright (Linn, Mo.) - 218th with a time of 21:16.39.

Freshman Stephanie Candrl (High Ridge, Mo.) - 249th with a time of 21:43.61.

 

The Owls will return to action on October 3rd. WWU will compete in the University of Louisville Classic in Louisville, Ky.
