Woods Rolls Past Hornets
(ST. LOUIS, Mo., Feb. 6)--The 19th ranked William Woods University women’s basketball team won 70-44 at American Midwest Conference foe Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis, Mo., on Saturday afternoon. The Owls improve to 20-2 on the season, and 8-2 in the AMC.
WWU raced out to a 29-13 lead after 20 minutes of play. The Owls outscored the Hornets 41-31 in the second half en route to the victory.
Sophomore Miranda Loesch (Lohman, Mo.) led the Owls with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Junior Jestine Gerber (Jefferson City, Mo.) added 14 points and nine rebounds in the win. Junior Rachel Baker (Mexico, Mo.) tallied 10 points and six rebounds for the Owls. Senior Eshell Estrella (Santa Ana, Calif.) had six points and six assists in the victory.
WWU shot 42.6% from the field in the win. HSSU (1-19, 0-9) shot 29.7% from the field in the loss. The Owls outrebounded the Hornets 55-28.
William Woods will return to action on February 11. The Owls will host Hannibal-LaGrange College in another AMC match-up. Tip-off is at 5:30 pm in Anderson Arena.
