Owls Open With William Penn

(FULTON, Mo., Nov. 6) -The William Woods University women’s basketball team will open the 2009-10 season tonight against visiting William Penn University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 pm in Anderson Arena.

The Owls are coming off a successful 2008-09 season. William Woods finished the season as co-champions of the American Midwest Conference regular season, champions of the AMC postseason tournament and earned an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament for the first time since the 1991-92 season.

The Owls were among other receiving votes in the NAIA Division I women’s basketball preseason Top 25 poll released on October 26.

William Penn enters tonight’s game 2-1 on the season. WPU has wins over Haskell University and Dana College. College of the Ozarks defeated William Penn on October 30 for the only loss of the season for the Lady Statesmen.
