(ATCHISON, Kan., Nov. 10) -The William Woods University women’s basketball team collected a road victory at Benedictine College on Tuesday night. The Owls defeated the Ravens 58-53.

 

William Woods took a three-point lead into halftime. WWU shot 40% from the field, including 46% (5-for-11) from beyond the three-point line. The Owls held the Ravens to 35% shooting for the half.

 

WWU outscored BC 30-28 in the second half to secure the win.

 

Junior Rachel Baker (Mexico, Mo.) led the Owls with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Senior Eshell Estrella (Santa Ana, Calif.) added 16 points and three assists in the victory.

 

Benedictine (0-1) was led in scoring by Teresa Zienkewicz with 12 points. Kristin Thorne added 11 points in the loss.

 

William Woods shot 42% from the field in the win. Benedictine shot 35% from the field in the loss. The Owls outrebounded the Ravens 40-28.

 

William Woods (2-0) will return to action on November 16. The Owls will host Central Methodist University at 5:30 pm in Anderson Arena.
