(FULTON, Mo., Oct. 31)--The William Woods University volleyball team will host McKendree University this afternoon in Anderson Arena. The Owls and Bearcats played each other earlier this season. William Woods defeated McKendree 3-1 in Lebanon, Ill., on September 25th.

 

McKendree leads the all-time series between the two schools 26-18. The Bearcats have won nine of the last 11 matches between the two schools.

 

WWU is in second place in the American Midwest Conference. The Owls are one match in the loss column ahead of third place McKendree. Today is the last AMC match for William Woods. After today’s match, McKendree has Williams Baptist remaining on its AMC schedule.

 

The Owls are coming off a hard-fought 3-0 loss to #7 Columbia College on Thursday night. The Cougars defeated the Owls 25-20, 25-21 and 28-26. Sophomore Lauren Fleming (Granbury, Tex.) and senior Lacey Olin (Colorado Springs, Colo.) each recorded seven kills in the loss. Freshman Alicia Green (Midlothian, Tex.) tallied four blocks for the Owls. Freshman Emily Nolte (Higginsville, Mo.) and junior Molly Dougherty (Omaha, Nebr.) had 12, and nine, assists respectively.

 

Today is Senior Day for the William Woods volleyball team. Prior to the match, head coach Jenny Mueller will recognize Skye Wade (Licking, Mo.), Cali Simmons (Shawnee, Kan.), Emily Edens (Ozark, Mo.) and Lacey Olin (Colorado Springs, Colo.).
