Owls Beat McKendree, Finish 2nd in AMC
(FULTON, Mo., Oct. 31)--The William Woods University volleyball team
defeated visiting McKendree University in Anderson Arena on Saturday afternoon. The Owls defeated the Bearcats 25-17, 25-17 and 25-18. The win secures a second place finish for WWU in the American Midwest Conference.
Senior Lacey Olin (Colorado Springs, Colo.) led the Owls offensive attack with 14 kills. Sophomore Lauren Fleming (Granbury, Tex.) had 11 kills and two blocks in the victory. Senior Cali Simmons (Shawnee, Kan.) added eight kills and seven service aces. Junior Molly Dougherty (Omaha, Nebr.) recorded 23 assists in the win. Senior Skye Wade (Licking, Mo.) finished with 37 digs for the Owls.
McKendree falls to 16-13 overall, 10-5 in the AMC. William Woods improves to 25-6 overall, 13-3 in league play. The Owls swept the two-match series from McKendree University this season.
Saturday was Senior Day for the William Woods volleyball team. Following the match, head coach Jenny Mueller recognized Skye Wade (Licking, Mo.), Cali Simmons (Shawnee, Kan.), Emily Edens (Ozark, Mo.) and Lacey Olin (Colorado Springs, Colo.).
WWU will return to action on November 3rd at Missouri University S & T. First serve is at 7 pm in Rolla, Mo.
