Owls Win Pair of 5-Set Matches

(LEAVENWORTH, Kans., Sept. 12) - The William Woods University volleyball team completed a four-match sweep at the University of St. Mary tournament on Saturday afternoon. The Owls had to go five sets in both matches to earn the sweep.

William Woods defeated host University of St. Mary 3-2 in the opening match of the day. The Owls won 25-23, 23-25, 25-22, 26-28 and 15-5.

WWU defeated Tabor College 3-2 in the final match of the day. William Woods won 22-25, 25-22, 25-16, 16-25 and 15-8.

The Owls collected two victories on day one of the tournament on Friday. WWU swept Southwest College and Central Christian College 3-0.

Seniors Lacey Olin (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Cali Simmons (Shawnee, Kans.) were selected to the All-Tournament team. Olin also received Tournament MVP honors.

William Woods improves to 8-3 on the season. They will return to action on Tuesday, September 15th. The Owls will travel to Lindenwood University for a 7 pm start. Lindenwood was ranked 20th in this weeks NAIA Top 25 poll.
