Owls Stay Hot, Beat Williams Baptist
(FULTON, Mo., Oct. 27)--The William Woods University volleyball team collected its 15th consecutive victory on Tuesday night in Anderson Arena. The Owls defeated American Midwest Conference rival Williams Baptist College 3-0. WWU improves to 24-5 on the season, and 12-2 in AMC play.
William Woods won 25-20, 25-19 and 25-20. WWU has now won 21 of its last 23 matches.
Senior Cali Simmons (Shawnee, Kan.) and senior Lacey Olin (Colorado Springs, Colo.) recorded a team-high 10 kills apiece. Sophomore Lauren Fleming (Granbury, Tex.) and senior Emily Edens (Ozark, Mo.) added nine kills each in the win. Senior Skye Wade (Licking, Mo.) had a team-high 18 digs in the victory. Freshman Alicia Green (Midlothian, Tex.) added four blocks for the Owls. Freshman Emily Nolte (Higginsville, Mo.) and junior Molly Dougherty (Omaha, Nebr.) had 23, and 22, assists respectively.
Williams Baptist College falls to 19-11 overall, and 7-8 in the AMC.
William Woods will host AMC leader, and seventh ranked, Columbia College on October 29th. The Owls and Cougars will play at 5 pm in Anderson Arena. The Cougars handed the Owls its last loss on September 19th. Columbia defeated William Woods 3-0 in Columbia, Mo.
