Owls Advance to AMC Championships
(FULTON, Mo., Nov. 12)--The William Woods University volleyball team defeated visiting Williams Baptist College 3-0 in the semifinals of the American Midwest Conference postseason tournament on Thursday night. The Owls defeated the Eagles 25-18, 25-18 and 25-21. With the win, William Woods advances to the AMC championship on November 14.
Senior Emily Edens (Ozark, Mo.) had a team high 11 kills in the win for William Woods. Senior Lacey Olin (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and sophomore Lauren Fleming (Granbury, Tex.) each added eight kills. Junior Molly Dougherty (Omaha, Nebr.) recorded 22 assists for WWU. Senior Skye Wade (Licking, Mo.) had 28 digs in the win. Fleming and Olin added five, and three, blocks respectively.
Williams Baptist completes the 2009 season 26-14. William Woods (29-6) will face Columbia College on Saturday in the AMC championships. First serve is at 12 noon in Columbia, Mo.
