(FULTON, Mo., Oct. 26)--The William Woods University volleyball team will host American Midwest Conference rival Williams Baptist College on Tuesday afternoon in Anderson Arena. Woods will play its final three AMC matches at home this week. The Owls are in second place in the AMC standings with one week remaining.

 

William Woods defeated Williams Baptist 3-2 on September 22nd in Walnut Ridge, Ark. The Owls lead the all-time series 18-3. First serve will be at 4 pm in Anderson Arena.

WWU enters the match 23-5 on the season. The Owls have won 14 consecutive matches, and 20 of its last 22. The last time the Owls tallied this many wins was during the 1998 season. The Owls finished the year 28-19.

 

Several Owls are having exceptional seasons. Senior Skye Wade (Licking, Mo.) ranks sixth in the nation in digs per game, and 18th in the nation in total digs. Sophomore Lauren Fleming (Granbury, Tex.) ranks 12th in the nation in hitting percentage. Senior Lacey Olin (Colorado Springs, Colo.) ranks 37th in the nation in hitting percentage. Wade is finishing her career at William Woods in style. Wade is now second on the all-time digs list for William Woods. She has recorded 1804 digs thus far in her career. She trails all-time leader Abby Funderburk (2202). She is also in second place all-time in digs per game (4.59). She again trails all-time leader Funderburk (5.68). Wade is seventh all-time in service aces with 118. Her 644 digs this season puts her second on the single-season list behind Funderburk (681).

 

WWU will host Williams Baptist on the 27th, nationally ranked Columbia College on the 29th and McKendree University on the 31st to finish AMC play (Current AMC Standings).
