Soccer Tops Avila

(KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 19) - The William Woods University men’s soccer team earned a road victory at Avila University Saturday evening. The Owls defeated the Eagles 2-0.

Junior Dirk Bauer (Kansas City, Mo.) scored in the 28th minute on a header to give the Owls an early 1-0 lead. Bauer scored on an assist from Greg Baker (St. Peters, Mo.).

In the 75th minute of play, junior Cory Herchenroeder (Ferguson, Mo.) scored on an assist from Nate Thackeray (Manchester, England) to secure the victory for the Owls.

Avila falls to 2-5 on the season. William Woods improves to 4-2 on the year.

The Owls will return to action on Saturday, September 22nd. William Woods will open American Midwest Conference play at Columbia College.
