Road Win For WWU
(MT. PLEASANT, Iowa., Oct. 17) - The William Woods University men's soccer team earned a shutout victory at Iowa Wesleyan College on Saturday afternoon. The Owls defeated the Tigers 1-0 to improve to 6-4-1 on the season.
Senior Zach Fox (Kansas City, Mo.) scored the only goal in the match in the 42nd minute of play. Fox scored on a through ball from Cory Herchenroeder (Ferguson, Mo.) to give the Owls a 1-0 advantage. The Owls outshot the Tigers 6-1 in the opening half.
The Owls kept the pressure on Iowa Wesleyan (5-11) in the second half. Each team had four shots in the final 45 minutes. Iowa Wesleyan put two of its four shots on goal.
For the match, WWU outshot IWC 10-5. The Owls put six shots on goal, compared to three for the Tigers. Freshman Robert Thibodeaux (Lafayette, La.) recorded three saves for the Owls in the win.
William Woods will return to action on October 19th. The Owls will host #13 McKendree University in an American Midwest Conference match-up at Firley Field.
