Owls Fall to Benedictine
(FULTON, Mo., Sept. 12) - The William Woods University men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Benedictine College on Saturday night at Firley Field. Benedictine was "among others receiving votes" in this weeks NAIA Top 25 poll.
The Ravens scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of play to race out to a 2-0 lead. Sean Lewis (Ballwin, Mo.) scored on an open goal in the fifth minute, and added a second goal in the 10th minute to give the Ravens the lead.
Kevin Parkhurst added a goal for BC in the 52nd minute to push the lead to 3-0.
William Woods outshot Benedictine 11-8 on the night. However, BC put four shots on goal compared to two shots for WWU.
Tanner Fox (Olathe, Kans.) had two saves for Benedictine in the win. Senior Nate Thackeray (Manchester, England) recorded one save for the Owls in the loss.
BC improves to 5-0 on the season with the win. WWU falls to 2-2 with the loss. The Owls will return to action on Tuesday, September 15. William Woods will travel to Ottawa University for a 7 pm kick-off.
