Owls Fall to #13 McKendree

(FULTON, Mo., Oct. 17) - The William Woods University men's soccer team lost at home to #13 McKendree University on Monday night at Firley Field. The Owls fall to 6-5-1 overall, 0-3 in the American Midwest Conference.

William Woods put forth a tremendous effort in a losing cause on Monday afternoon. The Owls and Bearcats battled to a scoreless first half. Each team had few chances to find the back of the net. Solid defensive play was the story on the night.

It looked like the match would have to be decided in overtime. Still scoreless with under two minutes remaining, Aaron Streid took a pass from Mitch Fear and scored the game-winner for the 13th ranked Bearcats.

McKendree University (11-1-1, 2-1) had seven shot on the night; two of which were on goal. William Woods had six shots, four on goal. Freshman Robert Thibodeaux (Lafayette, La.) recorded one save in the loss for William Woods. Joe Sagar tallied four saves for the Bearcats.

William Woods will return to action on October 20th. The Owls will travel to Central Christian College. Kick-off is at 4 pm.
