Men’s Soccer All-Conference Announced
(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 14)--Two members of the William Woods University men’s soccer team received All-American Midwest Conference recognition. Pete Smith (St. Louis, Mo.) and Steve Brocks (Portsmouth, United Kingdom) have been named to the Honorable Mention All-AMC Team.
Smith, a junior midfielder, from St. Louis, Mo., recorded four goals, one assist, and nine points. Brocks, a junior midfielder, from Portsmouth, United Kingdom) recorded five goals, three assists, and 13 points.
Six Owls were awarded Academic All-AMC:
Ricardo Ambrosini - Senior from Guayaquil, Equador
Greg Baker - Sophomore from St. Peters, Mo.
Steve Brocks - Junior from Portsmouth, United Kingdom
Zack Johnson - Junior from St. Peters, Mo.
Javier Poveda-Lopez - Senior from Madrid, Spain
Adam Reed - Senior from Columbia, Mo.
The William Woods University men's soccer team lost 1-0 in the quarterfinals of the American Midwest Conference tournament at Columbia College on Saturday. The Owls finish the year 9-9-1.
The Owls, 2-12 last season, finish the 2008 season under first year coach Nathan Mason with the most wins by a WWU team since 2000 (13-7).
