Owls Tied For Lead After Day One
(CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa., Sept. 12) - The William Woods University men's golf team completed day one at the Cropper Classic in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in a tie for first place. After 18 holes, the Owls are tied with St. Ambrose University for the top spot at the tournament.
WWU and St. Ambrose shot an opening round 286 (-2) at the Hunter's Ridge Golf Club. The Owls and Bees are six strokes ahead of third place Lindenwood University. Twenty-four teams comprise the weekend field.
Sophomore Nick Wilson (Rocheport, Mo.) leads the tournament after day one. Wilson shot an opening round 67 (-5). He holds a two-stroke lead in a field of 120 golfers heading into the final round. Senior Kyle Kovar (Columbia, Mo.) is tied for 10th place after 18 holes. Kovar shot an opening round 72 (E).
The tournament, hosted by Mount Mercy College, concludes on Sunday, September 13th.
