 Golf Finishes Fourth at Missouri Intercollegiate
(SUNRISE BEACH, Mo., Sept. 10) - The William Woods University men's golf team finished fourth at the Missouri Intercollegiate Tournament at The Club at Porto Cimo, in Sunrise Beach, Mo. WWU finished fourth in a field of 16 teams.
William Woods shot rounds of 304, 285 and 309 for a three-round total of 898. The Owls finished +34 for the tournament.
The University of Central Missouri won the event with an 880 (+16). The Mules finished 12-strokes ahead of second place Drury University.
The Owls put themselves in contention after two rounds. William Woods shot a 285 for the second round; the lowest round of the day and the tournament.
Freshman Chris Rienert (Parkville, Mo.) and Sophomore J.D. Nash (Newburg, Mo.) finished in a five-way tie for 17th place individually for William Woods. Rienert shot rounds of 71, 77 and 78. Nash shot rounds of 77, 72 and 77. The tandem shot a 226 (+10) and finished 21-strokes off the lead. Clark Fry (Rockhurst University) won the tournament with a 205 (-11).
WWU will return to action September 11th-13th at the Cropper Classic in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
