Owls 13th at Mo. Southern
(JOPLIN, Mo., Sept. 19) - The William Woods University men's cross country team competed in the Missouri Southern University Stampede on Saturday morning. The Owls finished 13th in a field of 35 teams. Three Owls had record-setting performances at the event. The University of Arkansas-Fayetteville won the event.
Freshman Ryan Meyer (Bonnots Mill, Mo.) was the top runner for the Owls. Meyer finished 47th in a massive field that consisted of 359 runners. He finished the 8k race with a time of 25:15.55. His time is now the third fastest 8k in school history.
Teammate Emmanuel Ramirez (Des Plaines, Ill.) finished 69th in the event. Ramirez, a senior, completed the race with a time of 25:39.26. His time is now seventh all-time in William Woods cross country history. Daniel Kirwa (Harding University) won the race with a time of 23:11.07.
Other William Woods runners included:
Junior Jason Rose (Lenexa, Kan.) - 88th with a time of 25:56.45 (9th all-time).
Freshman Corey Samples (Ste. Genevieve, Mo.) - 143rd with a time of 26:36.87.
Freshman Zach Bryant (Russellville, Mo.) - 190th with a time of 27:11.10.
The Owls will return to action on October 3rd at the University of Louisville Classic, in Louisville, Ky.
