(LAMONI, Iowa., Oct. 24)--The William Woods University men's cross country team won its second consecutive meet on Saturday. The Owls won the Yellow Jacket Classic at Graceland University. The field consisted of 14 teams. The Owls won the H.W. Wright Classic at Millikin College last weekend. This marks the first time the Owls have ever won the Yellow Jacket Classic.

 

Freshman Ryan Meyer (Bonnots Mill, Mo.) was the top runner for the Owls. He finished second in the event in a field of 110 runners. Meyer finished in a time of 26:05. Neil Grundman (Graceland University) won the event with a time of 25:16.

 

Junior Jason Rose (Lenexa, Kan.) finished 4th in the event. Rose completed the 8k race in a time of 26:19. Senior Emmanuel Ramirez (Des Plaines, Ill.) recorded a 10th place finish for William Woods. Ramirez completed the course in 26:43.

 

Other William Woods Runners:

Freshman Derik Simenson (Sioux City, Iowa) - 18th with a time of 27:43.

Freshman Corey Samples (Ste. Genevieve, Mo.) - 21st with a time of 27:50.

Freshman Kyland Sims (Lawson, Mo.) - 41st with a time of 28:54.

 

The Owls will return to action on Nov. 7. WWU will compete in the American Midwest Conference Championships in St. Louis, Mo. The Owls have won the AMC championships the last two seasons.
