Men's Basketball Visits Missouri School For The Deaf
Mens Basketball Champions of Character

On October 18th 2007 members of the WWU men’s basketball team participated in the Missouri School for the Deaf, 3rd annual Student’s Sport, Fitness and Health Fair.  The event at MSD was aimed at promoting a healthy and active lifestyle for their students.

The men’s basketball team met with groups of students to answer questions.  While most of the questions were “How tall are you?”, many students asked great questions about the William Woods basketball program and the life of a college basketball player.  Besides the question and answer segment, members of the basketball team spoke about the importance of practice and work ethic.  A

basketball skills workout was also handed out to those interested in working on their skills, and in addition the students were offered the opportunity to take a photo with some of WWU basketball players.

While the event was aimed at being an educational experience for the MSD students it turned out to be a learning experience for our student-athletes as well.  “I think today was about stepping out of your own element to make someone else’s day a little better” said Coach Grzella.  He went on to add, “I think too many people take for granted all the gifts they have been blessed with.  I hope our guys learn a lot from today.”
