Kelsey Frey - Sportsmanship

Kelsey FreyIn my experience of playing basketball I have come to learn that sportsmanship is one of the key items that you must have to be a good athlete. By showing good sportsmanship you are displaying good character for yourself as well as your team. During a game you never talk to the officials or tell them that they made a bad call. After a game is finished, you should always go and tell the other team "good game" and shake their hands. Not only do athletes need to show good sportsmanship, fans need to show good sportsmanship as well.

When I was growing up I was always taught to show good sportsmanship wherever I was. It didn’t matter if I was with my team or with my friends and family I was to present myself with good character at all times. By showing good character I would always feel better about myself when I would leave the event that I was attending.

When I was about ten years old I played for a coach that displayed bad sportsmanship. It made me realizethat by showing good sportsmanship you will always be a better team. When I would attend a sporting event I was one that would always demonstrate good sportsmanship. You should always respect the officials and the call that they make even though you might not agree with them.

As a person who shows good sportsmanship you will always be respected as a good person. You will always have more people looking up to you, and asking you for advice about the game. People will respect you even if you are not the most talented player because of the way you handled yourself on the court.
