Baseball Recognized By Community

Coach Darren MunnsThe William Woods University baseball team assisted the Callaway County Headstart program at their annual Hundred Man Dinner. Following their participation, the following appeared in the Fulton Sun Newspaper:

Hundred Man Dinner

On Thursday, March 12, the Callaway County Headstart held their annual hundred man dinner. I was really impressed when my daughter Mary, who is a teacher there, came home and reported that 74 Callaway residents showed up to share lunch with these young children. I was even more impressed when she told us that the William Woods baseball coaching staff urged their team to show up and every single member of the team and the coaching staff showed up. Many of the baseball team and community members stayed to play with the children until time for the children's naps.

I suspect that the Callaway County Headstart program may be a relatively small program compared to other Headstart programs in the stats, but I wanted to applaud the participation of everyone who attended. I also want to applaud the coaching staff of William Woods who did such a good job of involving their team in community affairs. It is things like this that make Callaway County a wonderful place to live.
