Women compete in basketball, soccer, softball, volleyball, golf, and cross country/track. Men compete in baseball, basketball, soccer, golf, and cross country/track.

The William Woods Owls compete in the American Midwest Conference and are assigned to Region V of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Other conference members include Columbia College, Hannibal-LaGrange College, Harris-Stowe State University, McKendree University, Missouri Baptist University, Williams Baptist College, and University of Illinois-Springfield.
