A William Woods University, Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary
Education (BSED) will prepare you to become an elementary teacher (grades 1-6), certified by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. You’ll be able to touch the lives and futures of children, their families and communities, while experiencing one of the most fulfilling careers available today.
Our Adult Studies, BSED program allows adults
like you to complete your bachelor’s degree and earn your teaching certification while continuing
to work full-time.
If you have already completed
a bachelor’s degree, you can choose to focus on
the BSED certification requirements alone. Our
BSEE program is approved by DESE and fully-accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
The William Woods BSEE program includes 52 hours of specific education and subject area courses, as
well as an additional 15 hours of student teaching and educational seminar. Your student teaching experience will be completed in a public school classroom during a 12-week block at the end of the program.
Each six-week course meets for four hours, twice
a week, either on Mondays and Wednesdays, or Tuesdays and Thursdays. You will complete the
program in 28 short months, which includes your student teaching and several breaks.
BSED class facilitators are part of the William Woods University Education Division, assuring students the same educational experience they would have
attending our day program in Fulton, Mo.
