Transfer Scholarships and Awards

Whether you are a scholar, a legacy, an actor or an athlete (or all of the above!), William Woods University has transfer scholarships for just about every passion and excellence. Read about our various scholarships below — some are awarded automatically upon acceptance and some require an application. Please, do not hesitate to give us a call with any questions you may have. You can increase the amount of your transfer scholarship with the LEAD award.

You must have 12 or more credit hours to be considered a transfer student.

Lead Award

Increase your scholarship with the LEAD Award of $5,000 for residential students and $2,500 for commuter students per year!

Athletic Awards

Requirement
Awards are available for basketball, baseball, cross country, track and field, golf, soccer, softball, tennis and women’s volleyball. Coaches determine recipients of these awards based on demonstrated talent and skill. To begin the process complete this form.

 

Scholar-Athlete Awards

Amount
ACT Score of 26-27: $3,000
ACT Score of 28-29: $4,000
ACT Scote of 30+: $5,000

Requirement
Students who are awarded an athletic scholarship may also receive this award if ACT is at least 26.

Performance Scholarships

Specific criteria – such as an interview, portfolio, essay, etc. must be submitted for consideration of these awards.

 

American Sign Language Interpreting

Up to $5,000

Requirement

  • Full-time enrollment
  • Two letters of recommendation from non-family members
  • 300-word essay on why you want to become an ASL/English interpreter
  • Audition videos showing you interpreting a story and a song (View video criteria)

 

Communications

Amount
Up to $5,000

Requirement

  • Full-time enrollment
  • Interview with a member of the communications faculty
  • 300-word essay on the impact that ______ has on society, (fill in the blank with your specific area of interest in communications. For example, "The impact that broadcasting has on society.")

 

Equestrian Science

Up to $5,000

Requirement

  • Full-time enrollment and academic achievement
  • Equestrian Science major (Equine Administration and Equine General Studies are not eligible)
  • Video showing your equestrian riding skills (View video criteria)
  • Videos are to be uploaded using Front Rush. Uploading instructions coming soon.

 

Art Education, Graphic Design or Studio Arts

Requirement

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time enrollment
  • Portfolio review, showing design skills, drawing skills and media exploration
  • Interview with a member of the art faculty

 

Theatre and Theatre Education

Requirement

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time enrollment
  • Audition (View audition criteria)
  • Two letters of recommendation from performing arts faculty/theatre artists
  • Recent photo
  • Resume with theatre training and experience

Requirement

Automatically awarded to incoming students with a grandparent, parent or sibling who attended WWU or is currently enrolled.

Callaway County Alumni Association Scholarship Application

Requirement
Must be a son or daughter of William Woods alumnus who lives in Callaway County, a relative of any William Woods alumnus, or a Callaway County resident of at least 2 years. Must have minimum high school QPA of 2.5.

Disciples of Christ Grant Application

Amount
Half tuition (including LEAD award)

Requirement
Parent must be an ordained Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) minister with good standing in the church. Ministers must be recognized as ordained ministers by the Disciples of Christ organization.
