Creating Citations and Bibliographies

 

  • APA Style Citation
    • APA is typically used in the Social Sciences-psychology, social work, education, etc.
  • Chicago Style Citation
    • Chicago is divided into two different variations: Author Date system and the Humanities style (notes and bibliography).
    • Author Date is used for the physical, natural, and some social sciences, such as Anthropology.
    • Humanities style is used most frequently in history and the arts.

Whenever you consult any other resources (i.e. books, articles, people, etc) to prepare a paper or presentation, you must cite or refer to the source of your information.  If you don't cite your sources of information, you are in essence presenting their ideas as your own, which is usually considered cheating and/or plagiarism.
