Jean Kraus

Jean KrausJean Kraus is a professor in the William Woods Equestrian Science program.  She has been with the program since 1974.  She holds an M.S. degree in Information Science from Syracuse University and an M.S. degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia.  Jean has also served as the Equestrian Studies Department chairperson from 1980-1988 and 1991-1996.

Jean is an United States Equestrian Federation Technical Delegate as well as a FEI level Steward.  She owned her own horse show business, Midway Hunter Jumper Shows, Inc. for twelve years and has managed dressage, hunter jumper, saddle seat and western horse shows, from the schooling level to USEF ‘A’ rated shows and AQHA shows.

Jean has done extensive research on the history of horsemanship through the ages working at the British Museum Library in London and the National Sporting Library in Virginia.  She has taken students on numerous adventures across the Atlantic touring horse facilities in England, France, Germany and Switzerland and has done research on the horse industry in Australia.
