Each of the sessions scheduled for the 2010 William Woods Summer Riding Program will be able to accommodate the beginner to the advanced rider. Participants choose to take lessons in hunt seat, english hunter pleasure (on the flat), saddle seat or western. Each session will also include demonstrations and discussions on horse health, anatomy, nutrition, conformation and the responsibilities of horse ownership.

All of the horse-related activities take place in the William Woods Equestrian Complex, which is located on the campus. It includes six barns, two large indoor riding arenas and an outdoor ring. Also available to the Summer Riding Program is an equestrian classroom located in the stable area. It is spacious, air-conditioned and has a large-screen TV with VCR/DVD viewing capabilities.

SESSIONS I & II

• Session I Riders age 14–17                         July 4 –9, 2010
• Session II Riders age 10–13                       July 11 –16, 2010

Sessions I and II of the William Woods Summer Riding Program are both residential, week-long riding camps. Students arrive on Sunday evening and are finished the following Friday at noon. If participants do not wish to stay on campus, they may commute.

Residential participants will be housed on-campus in an air conditioned residential hall with ample bathroom facilities and a living room area. Rooms are set up for two to three riders.  There will be two to four Resident Hall Advisors as well as a Residential Director staying in the dorm with the students. Meals will be served in the campus dining hall. All facilities are within easy walking distance of the university’s stable.
