The following policies pertain to all students entering the Teacher Education Program (TEP) from March 2003 onward. Students previously admitted to the TEP do not need to reapply. The other program policies pertain to all students in the TEP starting in March 2003.
Students with more than 40 completed hours and who meet the requirements listed below are invited to apply for the university's Teacher Education Program. Admittance into the Teacher Education Program connotes official acceptance into the university's Education Division. Teacher Education Program admission forms are available at the Education Division office.
Students with more than 75 completed hours who are not admitted to the program may not register for courses with the EDU prefix unless they are students with at least 30 transfer hours and more than 47 hours remaining in their program of study.
Teacher Education Program requirements
- · At least 40 completed hours
- · At least 30 hours (completed and attempted combined) of Common Studies courses
- · 2.5 minimum grade point average in all classes taken at all higher education institutions (If a course is repeated, the attempt with the lower grade is exempted)
- · 2.5 minimum grade point average at William Woods University
- · 2.8 minimum grade point average in major leading to teaching certification
- · 2.8 minimum grade point average in Secondary Certification sequence (if applicable)
- · Completion of a Speech course with a grade of C or better
- · Completion of Pre-Student Teaching I (EDU 291) or Pre-Student Teaching III (EDU 293)
- · Passing scores on all four sections of the C-BASE examination
- · Declaration of a major with the university registrar
- · The applicant's ACT or SAT results, if the applicant enrolled in college within one year of high school graduation and the test was taken within the last five years.
- · Official transcripts from all higher education institutions attended on file with the university.
