Interpreting Career Opportunities

InterpretingThe majority of interpreters today are employed in educational settings, while those in legal, medical, mental health, religious, platform and performing arts are also in high demand. Currently there is a shortage of interpreters in all fields. Freelance interpreting is another option.

Federal and state legislation, including Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Americans with Disabilities Act, mandates equal access for persons with disabilities. Due to this legislation, the demand for interpreters has increased dramatically.

William Woods Interpreting Program maintains a bulletin board full of job opening postings from across the nation for students to access. Be sure to look for information posted in our bulletin board or click on Weblinks for Internet search.
