ASL Learning Community
A group of interested faculty, formed and discussed strategies to increase the academic challenge and to assess student learning in the program through instruments aligned to measure student achievement of the Common Studies objectives.
The unique needs of individual learners are met through a variety of teaching methods that address differing learning styles such as visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. Faculty try to engage students in the learning process through service learning, internships and experiential learning, labs, and other hands-on learning opportunities. Learning outside the classroom is enhanced through living and learning communities. The Residential Life office in collaboration with the American Sign Language faculty established living and learning communities for students majoring in interpreting during the 2007-08 year.
